Slip the wide flat flange of the material all the way under the first course of roof shingles as illustrated. Apply a continuous bead of cement along the top of the drip edge then press down on the shingle. Make sure the corner is tight and that the bottom edge is tight to the fascia before nailing off the drip edge. Make sure the outer edge extends over the gutter.

Place a nail at one end then the other. Slide the corner tight to the fascia. The drip edge should be nailed centered in the top surface every 8 to 10 inches. While the vertical leg should be placed 1 4 1 2 away from the fascia.

How to install a drip edge. At the eaves the drip edge should be installed before the eave protection membrane. Gently lift up the shingles on the edge of the roof and locate the nails holding the existing drip edge onto. Make sure to support the long end of the cut if you let it fall after cutting it will bend down and kink the drip edge.

At the rake the drip edge is installed over the underlay. The roof leg should extend a minimum of 2 back onto the roof sheathing. Slightly open the hemmed edge to slide this piece over top of the installed piece on the eave.

You may need to nail through the starter strip into the drip edge. On the gable rake install drip edge starting at the bottom and working up. Use a flat pry bar and hammer to pry the nails out of the drip edge gently. Secure the drip edge with roofing cement.
